I have a residential remodel and need to create a simple electrical plan showing light fixtures, switches, panels, and perhaps some outlets. The plans need to show windows and doors (for switch location). Ideally, the graphics settings would allow halftone building elements so that only the electrical info and wiring lines would read as black.
Isn't there a simple way to show all this information? I have played with cut planes and view depths, in floor plans and RCP's, and each one is lacking one element or another. I've tried dragging one view over another on the same sheet, but it then gets tricky with some elements (walls, f.i.) blocking others (windows); and also, I would have to draw the wiring (switch to fixture) lines on the sheet as an overlay.
I am using Revit 9.1.

Attached is an example of my residential "lighting+ electrical plan".

I've also attached the view template settings used to create the graphic effect.

hope this helps.

Thanks dano, you really gave me a lot of info. The graphic settings really helped. The only remaining mystery for me is how you are able to show your windows as cut through and also view outlets down near the floor and also ceiling fixtures. You said it is a modified RCP. I am wondering about your view range settings, or...underlays? When I turn on a floor plan underlay on the RCP, it blocks out my windows. All other view range settings seem to eliminate upper or lower elements.

Well, I solved that last problem by adding an invisible line to all my outlet families so they will be cut in the RCP and therefore show up. Thanks to another post for that idea. Still seems like an inconvenient workaround, though...
Thanks again for the help.
