Hello,

My boss is wanting to do cantilevered stone stairs as seen in the attached image.  I feel they're similar to precast stairs, except that the underside has a profile.  I've been trying to dig into how the precast stairs are constructed, but can't figure it out.  I see the option in precast stairs to have a stepped or sloped underside, which is what I really need to modify.  I tried a custom stair profile, but that didn't work.  Maybe custom front and underside profiles, but where do the go in Revit.  My next thought would be to use Revit to generate the precast stair to get me the profile, then use the profile to build custom family and sweep my profile across each tread.

Thoughts?

You can choose to not have risers, and use a profile for the stair treads - I have just replaced it with a random profile, but this can be anything that you want.

Revit's stair tool is great for basic stairs, but when a stair becomes a little complex and needs a lot of flexibility, I always bin the stair tool and build the stair as an in-place family or as a independent family. You can spend hours and hours trying to bend the limited coding of the stair tool but making it a family you can instantly 3D model any shape you need for stringers, soffits, treads and railings.
