I don't understand your question.  Plan / elevation / layers ? What do you mean by extensions and shape handles?

What i mean is that, i know you can say extend the stud layer past a floor, and have the gypsum board stop at the top of the floor level. My problem is that when i go to Wall-Type-Edit-Section and unlocking/locking layers, for some reason i cant get the wall layers to be separate heights

Hammer, are you trying to unlock the layers in the both sides of the "Core"? You can't, only one side is allowed... check that...

Only adjacent layers can be un-locked.  If you need the exterior layers un-locked... think out -of-the-box.... unlock all the inner layers, set the wall to the height of the outer layers and pull all the inner layers up.

Works for me ... all the time...Post an image of the section view in the type editor showing you un-locked it.

Then post your section view where you are trying to move the layer.

Are you trying to adjust the layers in a section?  If you click on the wall in section you should see two adjustment points that can be stretched or aligned separately.

Hammer ... first - you have to be in section to adjust a layer.  The wall section you show should would work, if the wall is one that has a layer unlocked.  The wall shown in this section does not because it has only one adjustment arrow.

If you have the next to the last wall you show that has the core unlocked, you will have three arrows.  Either of the two outside ones will pull everything up or down but the middle one will only adjust the core up and down.

The two first ones will have only two arrows.  One will adjust everything but the single skin will only adjust the one skin.

Post a very simple project here ... nothing in it except that one wall and we will look at it.  You need to open a new project with no template - that will be the smallest then copy paste this wall into it - nothing else.

That was easy...

You have all the layers unlocked and so they all move at once.  Either unlock one face or the other or don't unlock the faces - just unlock the core.  Try that - relock the faces and see what happens.....
