I just need to bridge the gap between the soffit and roof/fascia. Is there a trick to it? Thanks for your help!

I don't think so, put in-place family

Just use a wall infill with an edited profile to match the gap.

Hi all,

I realize this is an old post, but I am having a similar problem. The image I have attached is showing a gable in the foreground, and another gabled roof in the background. Both need to have that closed in box on the corner as I have illustrated. How do I accomplish this?  Also, what's the simplest way to add soffit and facia? Thanks for the help!

Do it the same way as it would be done in real life.  Create an infill panel as an in-place family, or build out the wall, as suggested in the previous posts.

Ok thanks! So that is the easiest way.

What about the facia and soffit? Same thing?

Create the fascias and soffits using the fascia and soffit hosted sweeps, in the drop down menu under roofs in 2010 or modelling in 2009. Fill in the gap with an in-place family.

Thanks a lot Tim. I had no idea that tool was there. Very easy, and very appreciated.

Tim, after I finished putting the facia on, I noticed that it was not trimming where my roof from footprint and roof from extrusion meet. Take a look at the attached image. You can see the facia coming through the ceiling. Is there a way to clean this up?

I'm not sure why you have an extruded roof and a roof by footprint - seems as if it could all have been one roof.  Anyway, if you click on the fascia it has a blue dot at the end that you can stretch to the required position.  You can then add another fascia to to the other end if required.
