is there a way to make hatch patterns appear on a particular object in one plan but not in another? I have a desk I would like to have hatched in my equip/millwork plan, but just outlined in the regular floor plan thanks

You could hatch the object manually in this view using the fill pattern function under drafting.

You can also use your Visibility / Graphics settings and select furniture (or whatever category your desk is in) and 2 columns over you'll see an "override" button. Click that and unckeck "visible". That will hide all hatch patterns for that type in that view.
