Hi everybody! I started using revit a few weeks and found it awsome.. I love it's editing capabilities. I must confess I've become adicted to it. The problem is that Now that I builded my building, I dot know what to do with it... I rendered it with revit, but sadly I find the output very disapointing... I realize that revit and accurender are not a match to other wordly known renderers as Vray or Mental ray... The problem of revit is besides the unbelievable amount of time it lasts to make a render, the result is not at all what I would expect.. I could do a lot better in a lot less time. I tried then to export it to other 3d format.. The dxf format is about 1.5 gb in size, the dwg 2004 about 180 mb... You can quickly understand that it is not possible to work with files that large... Not in a normal computer anyway.. I converted it in max and the max file is about 380 mb... I cannot do anything with that. My question is, is there any option to control the amount of quality that gets out of revit to dwg format? like the amount of polys that makes a cylinder, the resolution of a window... I would really like an answere from here because I'm really out of ideas.. I am about to make a presentation and I would like to make the best output I can from my work with revit.. It is really frustrating not to be abble to do the best while you know youre able to do it with other 3d aplications... Thank you!! Laurent MIRANDA, Lisbon, PORTUGAL

You obviously know that to export a 3D dwg you do so from an isometric 3d view. If you turn off all elements you don't want to display, maybe interior detail that's unneeded etc. Then try exporting this may help with a workable file size. As for changing the amount of faces that are broken from a curved surface, i don't believe there are any settings to control detail in exports like this... We typically just export to DWG import into VIZ then setup lighting using a default setup we have, change a couple of maps then render, there shouldn't be too much fiddling after the export, especially if you are using the Viz 2005 revit plugin.... Located on the Revit 7.0 cd and website. HTH.

Hello

May I late with this, but I think that Revit is not the best render (accurender) but is good enough and it is better to try harder to make everything in revit then migrate to some other 3d app.

Big cheers to Portugal
