i just downloaded revit 9 and when i get to the install screen where it says Revit Building 9 Install is preforming the reqested operations, i get an error message Error 1723 there has been a problem with this windows installer package. A DLL reqired for this install could not be run. any idea on what this means ? i downloaded it right from the revit main site.

this is the answer from the Autodesk website, support link when you type the number of your error: Error 1723. A DLL required for this install to complete cannot be found Solution This issue is most often caused by out-of-date operating system software. You should make sure that you have installed all of the Microsoft Windows updates and service packs for your operating system. You should also make sure that you are using a fully updated version of Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 as your default web browser. good luck

If you need service pack 2 rather try and find the disk that you can get. Getting service pack 2 from the website makes you download a virus in the background. Then simply update your windows with normal methods. It should be fixed then.

try just clicking on the start button and select windows update and it will take you to the update site and check your computer for updates. you should set your computer up to check for updates on a regular basis. HTH Post edited on 2006-08-04 10:16:25

I had a similar problem, but my dll issue arose when I tried to access my help files and tutorials. A Microsoft update last fall disallowed remote accessing of dll files. This is the solution they gave me: Click Start, click Run, copy the following command to the open box and click OK after each roll. You are expected to receive a successful conformation after running each command: regsvr32 /u "C:windowssystem32itss.dll” regsvr32 /u "C:windowssystem32itircl.dll" regsvr32 /u "C:windowssystem32hhctrl.ocx" regsvr32 "C:windowssystem32itss.dll" regsvr32 "C:windowssystem32itircl.dll" regsvr32 "C:windowssystem32hhctrl.ocx" Please restart the computer and check the issue. Good luck!
