Does anyone know if I can create a non continuous top rail of a railing assembly? I have a railing design that involes flat bars for top rail that are interupted by the post that extend a couple inches above the bar.
The bar width is greater than the post so ideally I would like to post to be able to break the rail, but I have had no luck in figuring out how to do this, if it can be done.
Thanks

Use multiple rails: main rail w/o top rail and fill in-between posts with another rail element consists of handrail/top rail only.

You can create a baluster panel that is the correct length for the interupted part and space it to suit the posts.
