Revit 2017 - I am drawing 3d PVC conduit like the attached shows. I now want to put vertical conduit in but don't seem to be able to get into the right work plane so that I can draw vertical condiuts. Maybe I donlt understand work planes if they con;t work like autocad. Any help would be appreciated - Thanks Byron

The image tells us nothing.

Do you understand how to create work planes and set them to be active?

Reference / work planes work the same in both families and models.  In a model you start out with built in work planes - the floor levels.  Those are horizontal.  You can add column lines which can also be set as work planes and they are vertical.  Then you have other reference planes that you can create and name that are at any angle.

In a test project, add some column lines.  Go to an elevation view that is parallel to those lines.  Now you can set your work plane to be one of those column lines (planes) and you can add elements that in 3D are on that grid.  You can do the same with reference planes you create.... just always name them.

In your case, adding a vertical line pipe to a horizontal one, you could draw a reference plane in plan in the center of the pipe then go to an elevation view that includes that plane, select it and draw your pipe.   <<<  This is a very simple example but it will start you down the right road.

DO THE ABOVE AND LOOK AT IT IN 3D.

Create a reference plane.  You need to give it a name so that you can choose it.
