I'm trying to model an LED strip within an existing handrail (or do something that can at least pass as that). The handrail is already in the architect's linked model so all I really need to place is the LED strip.

I typically use a linear face based family for the strip, however when I place it on a reference plane near the handrail, I can't rotate the LED strip to match the slope of the handrail.

Does anyone have any solutions to this or best practices?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You could consider giving the handrail a self illuminating material. or create the handrail as two different profiles that fit together, one that self illuminates.

the above suggestion is better if you have access to the linked model ,

is there a reason you cant' create the reference plane with the matching slope and host the led light on it ?

can you model in place the led light ( with self illuminating material of course ) and use sweeps and pick lines on the handrail ?

if all options aren't working with you can you post a sscreen shot for the handrail so we get more insight ?
