This is an unusual request, as its not revit related, but would anyone have a construction detail for a balustrade post connection/fixing to a tiled, water proofed balcony over a living space?

Ive attached the pdf file of it here if anyone is curious enough to have a look and share what they might have.

Thanks

Hi vnd

I would recomend a Google search on Wet Decks, one of the obvious choices would be James Hardie

http://www.jameshardie.com.au/technical/application/decking/

Another result is:

http://wet-seal.com.au/waterproofing-balconies-balcony-deck-waterproofing/

Or you can read through this site, for a wet seal application to go under a 'tiled' floor finish

http://www.flexaseal.net.au/service_view/terrace-deck-balcony/

I also found the VBA information data sheet, if you are interested, not specifically for wet decks though:

http://www.vba.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/20959/Balconies,decks-and-balustrades.pdf

I hope something in the above you will find helpful.

Here is a pretty thorough write up on how to properly insulate and ensure continuity of water membrane/barrier.

https://buildingscience.com/documents/insights/bsi-051-decks-roofs-you-can-walk-on

As for securing the railing you would want to mount the post base plates on top of some sort of gasket that compresses to ensure no water will penetrate at the fastener locations and then tile around the base plate of the posts
