Hi there, I was hoping someone could take a look at this family and tell me if the Parameters are acting ok for them. When in Family Editor, everything works fine. However, when I put it in a project, I get this: http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=t6yzrr There's supposed to be a 1/4" gap between each cd. I think what's getting lost is the parameter "Plus Spacing" that is supposed to define how far from the edge the first and last CD of the array are. Bonus side question... why is it that even with Shininess to 0 and "No Object Reflections" turned off, this things still looks like it has more chrome than the ship from "Flight of the Navigator?"

Hi, Unforunately this site is still having issues and forbidding me to download attachments so i can't look at your family... Things to check: With your array make sure your disks are a nested family. this will make them easier to control Make sure you have constrained them off their origin (the reference planes that are set to define origin in the family). This should resolve your issues with the array. How high do you have reflectivity turned up?

I'm not able to test the origin offsets (currently the disc is offset from the edge of the stereo which is set to flex based on the number of CDs parameter using a formula. Part of the problem may also be that the disc is not nested family but instead an extrusion that is arrayed using a formula to control spacing and such. I tried a nested family but could not get the family editor to allow me to rotate the cd family.. Like it was frozen to the plane it was created on. Reflectivity is set to a whopping 0!!! However, in an attempt to create a material similar to the beloved apple line of products, there is a 1/16" thick extrusion of an "acrylic" material wrapped around the main material. I haven't played with it yet enough between power outages and bad weather and getting my car street ready i haven't had much time Thanks for the help. I hope admin gets this attachment deali-o fixed soon. Post edited on 2006-04-08 23:14:24

Need help? I'm probably in my chat room!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

You'll need to create the nest family discs on the correct plane to begin with. Create an extrusion based on a reference plane at the same angle. HTH.
