Using the Model-In Place tool do the trick

I would create a WALL HOSTED Generic Model so that you can copy a single family around your model.

 

It would always host to the side of the wall you select, you can also perfectly align the centre line of the hood family with your windows (i would build the family with a centre left/right reference plane of course), and adjust its height above the floor level all from the external elevations.
