I need an .stl file to feed to a 3-D plotter. I have my project modeled in Revit, and I exported a 3-D view to AutoCAD. I then tried to export the .dwg file to an .stl file, but the AutoCAD model is made of faces, rather than solids, and won't export as .stl. Am I overlooking something? Is there any way to go from Revit to .stl? Thanks, Erin

In your export settings make sure you have ACIS solids selected as opposed to Polymesh?

Thanks. I've got solids now. Some of them won't join, but that's a seperate problem... I wish Revit would just export to .stl...

ACIS solid makes very poorly vectored arcs. If you save as a polymesh you can bring it into autocad and save as a vrml file. Just down load the plugin from www.xanadu.cz. I make models using 3d printers, let me know if you'd like some help. I've got experiance printing revit models in 3d. Chris www.3drp.com 714-848-4559

Hi, I am using Autodesk Building 9 and I need to get a 3d model into an STL file. Is there an easy way to get this done without having anyother software other then Revit building 9 and Inventor 11.

thanks
