Hi -
I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to creating Revit families... I wanted to create a fairly simple family composed of editable text, a symbol, and lines that were stretchable. After reading some threads on RevitCity, I created a generic annotation family and then nested that into a detail component family with the symbol and stretchable lines.  I also made it so that it could be set to show left or right of the insertion point). All worked well, EXCEPT that when I brought the family into my project, the symbol in the family was a bit larger than the same symbol that I bring directly into the project. Also, the text appears to be bold. I was able to work around the symbol thing since it was mostly lines, so I just re-drew it in the detail component, but I'm stumped on the bold text. It wasn't set to bold in the labels I created in the annotation family, so I can't figure out why that's happening... Any ideas would be appreciated!!

The family I mentioned in my earlier post is attached, along with an image of how it looks in the model (with the bolder text).
Thanks!

Take a look at my image. I edited your tarket left family and set it to shared. See the difference with the two?

Yes, I definitely see the difference... I'm not sure I follow though... you meant the El Text Left family, right? Not the Target family? You mean that you set the El Comment 4 parameter in that family to a shared parameter instead of a family parameter? I just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly... Thanks so much for your help!

I really don't like nested annotations in detail families because of all the problems. I also don't like nested details in model families for the same issues.
In this case, the nested family inherits settings from the host unless you set the nested family to shared. I had never tested this until your family gave me the opportunity.
