All versions of revit are basically the same (Student, commercial, personal, etc.) just what you are using it for is the difference in cost... you can download revit directly from autodesk and then you contact them to purchase the registration key to unlock the program (You can use it free 30 days). Depending on what type of registration you purchase (student, commercial, etc.) determines the cost. By the way, in the student version, EVERYTHING you print puts a BIG "Created by an Autodesk Student Product" on the top, bottom, left, and right, of EVERY page (this prevents professional drafters from using the student version when they should be using the commercial, and there is no way I am aware of to turn it off unless you get a crack maybe). It is very annoying so I would recommend forking out the bucks for the personal registration. The PC requirements are the same for all versions, but a relatively new pc would be recommended. I run revit 8.1 on a 600 MHz pentium III with 256 megs ram and an old voodo 16MB video card and it gets really slow when I get alot of objects in a project or for rendering, so probably a 1.5+ GHz P4 w/512+ MB ram with a newer video card (128MB+) would be recommended, although you can run it fine with much less like I do, just gotta put up with the lag when working on big projects (such as houses, buildings, etc. basically once I get up around 200 objects it starts getting slow). Hope that helps. -P Post edited on 2005-12-15 11:42:51

thanks, well seeing how that my printers not working, i dont have to worry about printing. i could always print at school to, since i have a thumb drive (256mb). so my syestem should be able to handle it. i have a dell dimension 2400, pentium 4 2.66GHz, intel extreme grapics, 768MB ram, and both a cd and dvd drive. the only thing i hate about my computer is that i have dial-up internet. however, the computers we have at school, have 3gb of RAM, not sure on what processer it is but there 3.3GHz and pretty fast. i guuess its need when you have programs like revit, AutoCad, and Autodesk Inventor, on there. funny thing is that when using invetor, save often because of the blue screen of death. the other day one kid had 10 blue screens of death in an hour. where can i find the download version of revit?
