I replaced my laptop with an iPad last year but am going to partition my 2TB drive and install on a partition.  Then, do a clean install of Autocad Arch 2012 and Revit 2012.  The plan is to run that for a while and maybe eventually migrate everything over to the new partition and get rid of the old if things run smoothly.  I heard no problems on Autocad but Revit not much info out there.  Although, when I did the initial "App" (all programs on windows 8 are called apps now) compatibility test, it checked revit and autocad as both being ok to work on Windows 8.  We'll see........please post your results.

As I mentioned, my new AIO is touchscreen and its kind of nice actually to sketch on it.  I use the same rubber tipped stylus that I use for my iPad.  2012 maybe the year for the PC.  The promise of Windows 8 seems pretty cool if you watched the presentation from Barcelona yesterday.  Same operating system on phone / tablet / laptop / PC all being able to share the same "apps" with storage in the cloud and shared selective storage between all devices.  COOOL.

I see, well the problem I was having in the dev preview was that it basicly would not install, something to do with the .NET. As for tablets, I can see the potential as using them say out in field and having the ability to access your project from the cloud so that you can better explain the design intent to the contractor/client. But as an actual laptop replacement I have to disagree.

Thought you might all like to know that Revit 2013 "one box" installs fine in Windows 8 as long as you install SP1&2.  Pre SP2 you will find that the green contextual modify tab doesnt update as you switch between tools, also if you click on a tool from one of the non-updating menus Revit will crash with a fatal error.

Cheers!
