Trying to creat a roof opeing family. Opening must be a projection type hole for pipe penetrations. The kicker is I need to be able to tag it so I can put it in a table.

Not sure about creating the family- too many variables to get involved. A generic model roof-based family might work.
Scheduling and tagging is easily accomplished through shared parameters. This is just a text document which contains parameters that can be used on multiple projects. Instead of creating the same parameter over and over and over again you can just select it from the shared parameter file. Then you can tag and schedule these parameters by adding them to the project.
