Ok, I am working a large addition to an existing hospital.  I am working in Revit 2012, and at the start of the project we broke up each area of the hospital up into it's own seperate central file.  So we have the West Tower, which is the large addition, there is the West wing of the existing hopital, we are doing a Vertical addition to that West wing, and there is an existing Power Plant that we are doing doing work in.  Each of those (4) areas is it's own central file so there's alot of workset control.  So back to the West tower, the addition is large enough that we had to split it into area A and area B.  Area A being the southern half of the building and area B being the northern half.  Each area is a dependant view of the main view.  Is it possible to turn off or hide something in one view but still be able to see it in another view?  I ask this because in the Area A view we want to see the existing gridlines to the existing west wing but in Area B it's just too crowded and would like to have the ability to turn them off.  I have attached photos, any one with information to help me out would greatly appreciated.  Thanks and have a great day =).

Dependent views are really two views of the same plan.....  There are only rare instances where you should use dependent views.

So make an independent view... and copy/paste all relevent 2D items in one operation.  Remember ...Revit is a model so any model changes in your dependent views will still show here.

I agree with WWHUB 100%.  The idea behind dependent views is a good one.  It would be nice if there was a dependent view w/out annotations. . .but there is none.  Unfortunately, dependent views are only good if you have views with minimual annotations, especially dimensions.  I just redid about 40 plans because the dependents got so dang difficult manipulate.

Uhhhh....dual brainfart?!?

1.  Select the grids you don't want to see

2.  Right-click

3.  Hide-in-View

Does not carry-over to dependent views.
