I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question but does anyone know of any way to add a shared parameter to a foundation slab? It seems that with it being a system family, the option is not available. Is that the long and short of it? Any workarounds?

Thanks,

You can add shared parameters to system families at the project level.  Manage tab, project parameters / add then pick the category for the parameter and the shared parameter.

Ah yes. But we're still not given the option to set said shared parameter to any particular value, are we? Via formulas or otherwise? I guess the question ultimately becomes, besides adding text parameters, how does one modify the values of a dimensional shared parameter that has been added to a system family? Ultimately, I'd like the shared parameter to utilize actual reported values from the object being tagged to report another value. This would just be the start of the process but I don't even know if the first step is possible (or I suppose it's the second at this point).

Thanks,

Revit is kind of stupid in this regard.

For example, I cannot schedule or tag wall heights.  I cannot tag deck thickness.  I cannot tag wall thickness.  I can tag Bearing Elevations for footings, but not TFEs.  The list goes on.

Someday.
