Hello, I'm working in Revit Arch 2011 (which I'm loving by the way).  I'm working on some existing storefront for a project I'm working on.  All of the storefront is arched.  No problems there, I'm able to make the storefront look like I want it.  The problem comes when I have arched doors in the storefront.  I have loaded the single glass and double glass doors and tried to insert them and Revit will not arch the tops of the doors.

Am I missing something?  I can't find anything on this topic.  Do I have to create the doors with the correct arch top first?  Has anyone done this already?

Thanks in advance.

in the typical storefront/curtain wall set up, all the vertical and horizontal mullion are meant to linear, therefore, no curve/slope of such can stay within the system

I know that you can edit profile to get the edge of the storefront to be arch shape but you can't (typically) curve an arch door way within the curtain wall. (ie the curtain panel does not allowto be curved)

One of the workaround would be to model the entire storefront and arch door as wall based family then insert it to the wall.

OR you can model a custom curtain panel that has a arch door with the straight transom within the same panel.

Just edit the profile (not the panel but the Curtain system or storefront) like you want and the mullions will be curved.

pchan and Typhoon,

Thanks for the responses.  Typhoon, your left image is pretty much what I was doing.  Can you place the surtain wall doors in this though?  That's the issue I was having.  I can create the arched storefront, but when I try to switch out the glazing panel for the storefront double doors, Revit tells me it can't be done.

Can you place the doors in your solution?

That's not a "Curtain Wall door", that is a ANOTHER curtain wall, then I edit the profile, create that shape and added a curtain grid in the middle, just like that....

If it isn't a door, then its just another work around.  I have specific doors to place in the storefront.  Thanks anyway.  Looks like I'll have to find yet another way to make Revit do something.

Arusso5,

you can try and see the attached file and see if this solution will work for you.

pchan-

Thanks for the doors.  They didn't do exactly what I was looking for, but it gave me an idea to do what I needed.  I modified the double storefront doors to have the radius top that I needed, then I replaced the single arched glazing panel with a generic wall which took its shape.  Then I inserted my arched doors into the wall in the storefront.  The doors show correct in all views and schedule as doors.

Thanks again for the help and inspiration.

Door inserted in basic wall that use it as a Curtain wall panel is also another solution to it.

Sounds like you get the idea
