Hi All,

This is my second attempt to find some help on this topic. I have attached a file that works for a cellular beam but I now require it to have the holes set out differently.

I need the hole setting out to start from the centre of the beam so that the spacing is consistent and the centre point of the beam is centred in between two of the holes.

I have tried a few things and not had any success. For example, I feel there needs to be two arrays startng from the middle and working out with two start points for the array in this place too.

Any ideas?

I took a quick look at the family, and it is a bit messy!

The Left/Right reference plane which defines the origin has been unpinned and moved.  If this needs to be centered, and pinned in order for the family to function correctly, I do not know.

In regards to your issue.  I believe Revit comes loaded with a cellular beam type, and I assume you are attempting to modify the existing type.  If this is the case, you will want to restart this family with that type.  If you want your array to begin at the center of the beam, you will need to define your first opening at the center (the aforementioned reference plane) and build out (left and right) in both directions.  I think that's the simple answer.

If you need additional help, I might  be able to walk you through.

Matt

Thanks for your reply.

Yes this family is the default from Revit 2011. I thought it would be best to use this and it would be simple enough to just change the arrays/array starts etc. I have tried all sorts, including the option you stated (starting two arrays from the centre and building outwards in opposite directions). It all appears logical but then when I load the family into my project it just says "cannot make cellular beam" and I get the option of "delete type" or "cancel". A step by step guide would be good or if you could edit the family and re-post it on this thread with some modifications that would be great. Im willing to listen to anyting!!

Thanks, Lee
