Hi there I am trying to create simple family to represent timber trim with material, width, height and depth parameters (which I can do) but I want to be able to control the height by the blue triangle (see attach drawing). I probably miss a basic thing but I don’t understand how to do the double lock and the need and reason for the symbolic line. nirim

Get rid of the symbolic lines and lock the ends to the work planes. Like this

I'm not 100% sure what your question is but I downloaded your family and loaded it into a project. It works just fine as is. To get the blue triangle (shape handles) to appear in a project you need to view and select it in an 'elevation view'. You won't get the shape handles to show up in a 3d view. See attached image. I'm not sure why you are locking that horizontal 5'-11 dimension however? Get rid of it.

Thanks guys for the replay What I trying to achieve is simple rectangular extruded mass built on the generic model template to be able to use it as a simple timber trim, and be able to control the width, depth, material and height. I can do all of that but I want to control the height also by the blue triangle (in a project and not in the family itself). The family that I posted is the good example but done by some body else, and as mention earlier I wasn’t sure how to achieve the double lock and what the symbol lines are for. Attaché is the family that I want to build. nirim
