I'm attempting to create a family for a c channel that cuts into a wall and sort of acts as a reveal. For some reason the void I've created is not really cutting the wall and I can't see teh c channel unless I extend the piece out from the wall, but I want the channel flush with the wall and I'd like to see the void shown in section as well. Any idears?

You need to tell us more about this family. Is it wall based, or is it just face based? In the family, the void has to be set to cut the host and it has to be a rectangle. For voids like this, I like the face of the void to extend out past the face of the host into "air". The solid channnel then would be also in the family and placed in the area created by the void.
