i am trying to adapt the revit family Ladder to make a stud wall where rungs and stud have similar parameters

but

the "number of rungs" label is snagging me,how  do incoperate it in a 3d model

load family into generic model restricts import-excludes annotation label?

see clip for explanation

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qri7zaH02x8

shared parameters?

That "number of rungs" is the parameter from the "Array, after you create the array, select one element then select the line with the number (2), in the options bar select "Label / Add parameter", then give it a name (number of rungs), and a group parameter like you can see in the images.

i think i understand the quantitiyparameter but the use of it in a 3d template family is the problem

it works in 2010 version but not in 2009?

label with number (quantity properties) -right klik- edit label and your off

but not in 2009? (or have i missed somthing-i dont get the option edit label in 3d template family in 2009)

see (1000 words) clip

could some one please explain?

the url captured the right click edit label add parameter fuctioning in revit 2010

so i thought it was a 2010 update problem

now it(revit2010)refuses to right click edit label as shown in clip

it was ok earlier today now its not allowing right click edit label?

can i blame the tools?

No need that, you must SELECT the LINE of the array and not the number, watch this: http://screencast.com/t/NzFkYTlm

hi

perhaps you can throw light on the following

door swing problem

the family crane/logistics/site  has a boom angle parameter that moves the boom. a simple extrusion

i and trying to copy this into a door swing but find i over constrain or lose the shape of door

i found sweep worked better than extrude but still run into problems attaching hinges to door

perhaps it is to do with the site template but in the site template(building a wall and door) it does not work for me either

the url shows the question better--trying to copy the boom swing parameter but running into problems

it does not flex very well?

i find it very difficult to repeat what is on the video

the extrusion starts with 2 locks on the first line--i cant get that --as soon as i move cursor the locks banish

perhaps thats the problem

all attempts lead to remove constraints (on 1 lock)

is that a tutorial seris?

thanx

"the extrusion starts with 2 locks on the first line--i cant get that --as soon as i move cursor the locks banish perhaps thats the problem"  - That's because when you are creating the line, first you may uncheck the "CHAIN" mode in options bar, when you do that you can lock those padlocks.

"is that a tutorial seris?" - NO, i create that video just for you.

thanks again for your help

very explicit

i think the problem to some extent is the tools

why is it so difficult to snap point on ref line in dim mode

a lot of what needs to be learned seem to be a case of trial and error approach

their is no documentation that i know explaining these problems?

thanx again /youve been very helpfull
