I have not been able to locate a double door family where each panel has a louver in it.  Does anyone have one that they would be willing to share?

Thanks in advance.

Nothing on hand and nothing that I can find with a quick search.
Turbo Squid has lots of door families but none with louvers. There are louvers on their own.
Sounds like the perfect opportunity to learn how to edit the stock double door family : )
I would try to 'nest' a louver family in the door family.

The question though that needs to be asked is 'do you really need to model the louvers in 3D?'.

Unless you are doing a close-up rendering of a door I personally doubt it.  I just use model lines on the face of the door family to indicate lovers.

Even though Revit is a 3D program, you always have to evaluate whether or not creating all parts of an object in 3D is going to bring any real value to the model.  Modeling louvers and making them parametric is not something I recommend be done by beginners.  In addition, they would tend to bloat the family size and may in fact not give you the 2D look you would want in elevations as you would see through the empty louver space to your view depth.  Perhaps this is why you can't find any 3D door families with louvers.

Good point Tom. I agree 100%.
This would be a relatively easy edit to the stock double door family.
I would just use a basic extrusion for the frame of the louvers and then use 'model lines' to represent the louvers and forget about modeling the louvers in 3D.

Hey, DGCAD, thanks for taking the time to do that... any chance you could do it again in 2010?  I can't use your new fangled 2011 version yet.

 Thanks again!

Darn it. I no longer have 2010 installed.
I am however planning a video mini series on how I did it so if you can hold tight I'll teach you how I did it.

I like the look of this site.
Another REVIT content seller joins the market ! Good luck.
This site looks promising but needs more content (only 5 doors and 3 windows).
I am still not convinced that in the long run, selling REVIT families will be prosperous. Eventually the manufacturers will simply provide there products for free in RFA format. Would they not?
Also, you have to wonder about 'legalities' when you produce a family and 'sell' it for profit as a product of a specific manufacturer? Does the manufaturer have to santion the use of their name when you sell a family with the understanding that it is their product? I'd say yes if you use their name.
I am interested mccadman, on a business perspective. Do you require a legal 'ok' from all the manufacturers listed on the left hand side of your site before you can 'sell' an item represented as their product in digital format?
You have Sony listed their. You can't just pick up the phone and call Sony ! Are they even aware?
You may need a little disclaimer or add the letters (ish) to all the manufacturers.
Anyone else have thoughts ?
