Is there any simple option other than those I stated below to hide the visibility of an annotation object in all the views at one go? I want to hide the Reference planes in all my views before exporting to CAD drawings. For this, I have tried the options: 1. Select a Reference Plane - Right click - Hide in view - category. I need to do this for each view individually. 2. View Template settings - VG overrides - uncheck the visibility of Ref. plane - Apply default templatre to current view; Again I need to do this for all the views individually. If I am tired doing both, after exporting to CAD, I will have to Freeze the Reference plane Layer in AutoCAD for all the drawings exported. Any help will save time for me! Thanks.

I don't see a way of doing this. We do not allow reference planes to be on in any sheet view so we don't have this problem. You might find in the future that using working views vs sheet views for modeling purposes will help. Using view templates is also a very good practice - then you can apply "default view templates" to all sheets at once before exporting.

If your project is a central file you could create a new workset and uncheck "Visible by default in all views". Then do a select all and place them on the new workset. If your wanting Reference Planes (can't do select all) you could cut a section or elevation of your entire plan and select everything, filter out everything but Reference Planes, and change them to the new workset; However, obviously this only will work for plan views and not detail views. Hope this helps.

Thanks for both the replies. Since that project is not on workset, I am unable to try Jnovella's suggestion. But will make note for future use. Unfortunately, since the DWG export of views are required for a review before I could complete the Revit model, I am yet to assign sheets. you can apply "default view templates" to all sheets at once before exporting. - WWHub, (1) I guess visibility of Views cannot not be controlled being on a Sheet. I wonder how to apply a view template to sheet. (2) How to apply view templates to all sheets at once? Could you please throw some light. Thanks. Also, Reference plane is an example on my first post. Others I want to hide the visibility in all views at once are Imported categories, Reference lines, etc., in no particular list of combinations but as and when required. If not possible now, I would like to add in Wishlist if viable.

To exapnd on Hubs post, on top of working and documentation views, we also utilize exporting views for just this reason. Then I made a view template for exporting with every category turned off that I do not want to see. This way, I can just apply the view template to any exporting views that are needed. I would really look into breaking your project browser up to different categories...really makes life A LOT easier. HTH

If you go to Manage Links under the Manage tab you can unload the .dwg, revit, and dwf markup files. This will turn them off in your project and not remove them completely. Also just an idea, when you link in a cad file you can select to display in "Current view only" on say a working plan instead of your plans going on sheets...then you wouldn't have to worry about turning off a dwg background in every view.

In regards to on the RPs, I keep them on the Defpoints exporting layer, in the event that I forget one here or there. Previously I have seen my Reference Planes printed in consultant drawings who are using our backgrounds... a little embarrassing.

If you are using version 2012 you can take a look at my add-in tool called HideInViews at http://www.caddaddy.com/software/revit/hideinviews.
