Hi,

I've spent the last while trying to figure out the best way of making a particular type of roof window (see product info attached), but am not making much progress. Can anyone advise me on the best way to approach this type of window? It's a flat glazed panel set in an upstand on a flat roof, so I imagine the upstand should be a family, with the window as a nested family, but I'm running into all sorts of problems with this. For one thing, I cant make the window (which will be the nested family) tilt to the angle I need it to be a...

Any help?

Thanks

C

I think i create that PARAMETRIC in a "Generic Model Face Based" family then change the category to "Windows", in this way you can apply that whatever you need and change the parameters (Height, lenght and Width) by the different windows like you can see in the images below....

Thanks Typhoon,

I'm just getting back to this now... That worked perfectly, BUT I don't know how to change the category to "window". Can you tell me how?

When drawing the "face based model" I had an issue with making the parameters work properly. I've attached a PDF that shows you what the questions is (it's a bit difficult to explain otherwise)... But I'll try: The width of the window is controlled by a parameter. How can I make a diagonal reference plane move with this width parameter? Can 2 referenced places be fixed to each other at a point?

Thanks for your help!

C

"BUT I don't know how to change the category to "window". Can you tell me how?" - in that family go to Settings>Family categories and parameters and change to "Windows".

About the Ref. planes - create a dimension angular between ref. A and B and give it a "Parameter", in this way you are "Constrain" those ref. planes....
