Hi,

I have created a village hall with ancillary rooms. Within the main hall I wish to include  timber panelling about 3'-0" up from floor level and then topped by a dado rail of some sort. What is the best way to achieve this. Thanks in advance to all.

reagrds

Mark

There are two main methods to do this.  The first is to create as a layer in the wall properties and unlock the layer and stretch it down to the correct height in a section.  You could use a wall sweep to create the rail.  The second, which I prefer, is to create a seperate wall for the panel with a sweep for the rail and then align and join it to the main wall.

I use the added wall method for something like this.  I believe the first method will cause you problems because I have seen the exterior wall finish applied to the secondary layer in some cases.  I don't know if that is true all the time but the thin wall works so well I don't need to do the other.

Thanks. I have made a new wall 40mm thick and called it panelling. Then in ground floor plan, I placed the panelling up against the existing wall. then I used the Join tool.

Thanks
