How can ?I change the material of a curtain wall, so that the glass appears darker

By default it is 'glass' material. You can change this material in 'material settings' or define your glass (etc. glass 1) and in 'object styles', expand row 'curtain panels' where you find new row 'glass' at the end of row you can put your material (etc. glass 1)

Is it possible to treat the curtain wall panes individually and put tints to some panes and not others?

Of course.
In the project in your browser window, scroll down to families-->Curtain Panels-->System panel
And duplicate types with different materials and then sub in those panels for the existing ones in your curtain walls.
