I want to make a pier cap in the foundation category but every time i set it on top of the pier Revit by default sends it to the bottom of the pier. does anyone know how to prevent this and while still keeping my family in the foundations category?

I created a new level (top of piles) and associated the pile cap with that, with no offset. The pile cap then attaches to the top. You can set the top of the pile relative to that level also.
