I am trying to create the roof shown in the attached image, only, I'd like to make it out of one roof, instead of two. Making it with two different roofs almost works, the problem is when I render it I see the horizontal line where they are connected. I've tried creating the roof by picking walls, and also by sketching it, but it doesn't work. I've also tried to use the join/unjoin roof tool...no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 Thanks!

Have you tried using the join geometry tool to join the two roofs? That should remove the line.

I don't fully understand what's the problem you're having creating it with only one roof because you can....

@TKennedy: Thank you for your help.

@earland73:  I figured there was a way to make it work, that's why I asked. You showed me that it can work, but will you explain to me how you do it? Here's how I attempted to do it. First I use the pick wall command and select the 4 main walls. I then sketched the porch overhang. I applied the slope, and finish the roof. When I do it that way, the porch overhang starts at the same level as the rest of the roof, instead of beginning lower and creates gaps all the way up the roof. Sorry I can't post an image of the result...I'm not at work anymore. Thanks a lot for your help.

Yes, an image "says" more than 10,000 words, but guessing what you did, I think you applied the slopes to the 3 edges of the side of the roof you want your porch ( see image 1 and 2). But as you can see in the image 3, just applying one slope you got want you want.....

Yeah that must have been what I was doing wrong, though I did try it by only adding the slope to the porch overhang and it did the same thing as in your second picture. Thanks for the explanation.

I sense some resentment towards having to explain how you made your roof. I appreciate the help, but if it was so hard to explain how you did it, you shouldn't have.

I don't sense any resentment from erlands post - he merely agreed with you that an image would be helpful.

Tim, I think you are right. My mistake, and my apologies to erland.  I was a bit frustrated that I couldn't get something so easy to workout. Thanks again for all the help! Worked like a charm this morning!
