what's the purpose of "create plan view"?

when that dialog pops up- unless you

uncheck "do not duplicate existing views"-

it does nothing.. and if you do uncheck

"do not duplicate existing views" then it

seems to do the exact same thing as

right clicking a view in the browser and

duplicating it.. see image..

It matters when you are doing a high-rise building and you copied several new levels and you want to see a plan of those levels. It is like a batch floor plan maker.

It is to create a new plan view from levels that do not have a plan view associated with them. Try this, go to an elevation and copy one of your levels. The symbol should be black, and there should not be a new floor plan in your project browser. Now go to Create Plan View, and the level you just made should show up in the list.

i know about creating a new level and it be

black if you don't say yes to have a corresponding

floor plan- but that was with the classic UI- now

i do "create similar" and the level is automatically

blue with a floor plan- and i select level from the

home tab and it's the same thing.. how do i even

make a level that's not associated with a floor plan

with this silly ribbon?

Uncheck 'Make plan view' in the options bar.
