I created a custom baluster panel for a job I'm doing. It's thickness is 3/8". everything was left as is. Now how do i attach materials to it, so when i load it into my project i see the material it is meant to be. help!! please!! thank you

Look for the baluster under railings in hte family section of the project browser. You can control the properties from there.
