I have a silly question... can someone give me a quick answer as to when to use the 3 different types of 'curtainwall?'  I know what the three types are in theory, but does it really make a difference if I use the curtain wall or the storefront in any given situation?  I can make both of them look the same, so when do you use each type?

I told you it was silly.

Add this into the mix... does anyone use manufacturer specific storefronts?  For example: Kawneer.  They seem to make the file sizes much larger, but it is nice to have the real stuff in there.

Thanks in advance.

There is really only one curtain wall/storefront.  I really wish REVIT would have named these differently.  These have noting to do with the real world curtain wall / storefront systems except that bot are aluminum tube, stick framed systems.

The stock "storefront" is really just an automatic "curtain wall".  It has the grid spacings setup vertically and horizontally in its type properties as well as muillion types.  "Curtain walls" have no pre-set conditions.  That is really the only difference.

NOTE:  to edit "storefront" grid lines or mullion types, you have to release that component from its automatic constraints.  I like to use "storefront" to quickly place a whole wall system, then change the type to curtain wall to unlock all the components at once.
