Hi, I am a newbie trying to set up custom components using Revit architecture 2009

I have set up a custom wall type with 1-1/2" (Eldorado) stone, 1"stucco, 1/2" plywood, 5-1/2" wood framing and 5/8" drywall. The core boundaries are inside/outside of the wood framing. In Plan (1/4"=1'-0", modified coarse view), The attachment shows what I am trying to achive

Wall legend will indicate that is a wall with stone attached! I can not turn off the plywood and drywall lines to reduce visual clutter. ANy ideas?

Also, dimensioning snaps to core boundaries. Can I snap tape measure to core boundaries?

 Thank you for any ideas/help.

You need to be 'Detail level - fine' to show different layers (or medium).  If you don't want this for the view you can overide the walls in VG.

Then in Object styles, under walls. set the common edges to be grey.  Then in the wall properties, change the cut fill pattern to be solid fill with the grey color.  Do this in VG if you don't want it to be global.

Alternatively, overide the graphics in view of the wall and change the cut patterns of the wall and use the linework tool to hide the common lines.

You can measure to the faces by using the tab key to cycle through to the face that you want.

Tim,

Thanks for the response, the altered lineweights looked great, but it appears I would need to do this for all walls separately- it can not be applied to a wall type. Am I correct?

I struggled with the other concept of changing cut fill etc as I don't understand how I can 'remove' the display of the extra components e.g. drywall and plywood. I will keep trying.

BTW - I notice you're in London - I am English but now living in California and missing London like crazy!

Change the fill patterns of those wall layers to the same solid colour, along with the common lines.
