I am modifying and creating a number of new families for my firm and I am making so many files with each family I edit or create.  Is there any way to limit this?  I know when I save I can change the number of maximum backups, but that doesn't seem to stop what I'm talking about.  I have three backups of every file I've created or modified.  How many backups should you keep?  Where do you keep them?  This just seems like a lot of additional file space that is required.

 Is there a way to remove them automatically through Revit?  What about all the journal files and the project backup folder.  How often should these be emptied?

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks.

From your HELP

 Specifying the Number of Backup Files function hideInfo() { info = document.getElementById('infoline'); info.innerHTML = ' '; info.style.visibility = 'hidden'; } function showInfo(title) { info = document.getElementById('infoline'); info.innerHTML = title; info.style.visibility='visible'; }

By default, Revit Architecture saves up to 3 backup files for each project. You can change the number of backup files that Revit Architecture saves for a project.

To specify the number of backup files

  1. Click File menu Save As.
  2. In the Save As dialog, click Options.
  3. In the File Save Options dialog, for Maximum backups, specify the number of backup files to save.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Save
For the number ofjournal files - Settings / Options.
