I am new to Revit. Can anybody tell me how i can apply different Material/Paint/Texture/Finish to inside and outside faces of the wall? I am sure, many of you know this because every building has different color or texture for inside & outside faces of the wall. Please let me know.

Thanks.

You can create a new material for either side of the wall.  If you have a plaster finish with a certain colour for the inside, create a new plaster material and use it for the outside.  Alternatively, just use the paint bucket tool and paint the one side a different colour.

Don't forget the "split face" tool. It is used to split a region of the wall and paint it using paint too.

Thanks a lot!!! i wanted all white walls and external face different color. So in Materials, I changed the color of default wall as a white and I tried to apply different Material on external wall face by "Paint". By split face option, I could apply different material on part of the wall...

1 more question.. I am using Revit Architecture 2008. Can you tell me how to use JPEG as a material to pick perfact color/ pattern?

Thanks.

When I use texture for exterior wall, It doesn't allow me to change the color of the texture for rendering. Is there a way to change the color of the wall texture?

Thanks.

Make sure your material that you apply to the exterior wall has a render appearance on it... to check this.... go to the "material" you are going to use and go to the "render appearance" tab (not shaded...tab). there you can apply the texture/material you want to use for render purpose.

I pick texture in AccuRender section. I picked Exterrior> Stucco>Tan, Texture.

Then, to keep that texture and appy different color, I change the color in Shading sections (Which appiers Tan color after silecting this Texture). It changes the material color in dialog box & in shaded mode. but in Rendering, it show's the texture's original color (Tan).

I have the same problem with other wooden, stone wall, tile & Paver material too. If you help me to fix this stucco problem, it will help me to fix these other problems too.

Thanks.

Accurender? What version are you using? I'm currently using 2009 and it uses mental ray rendering.... The reason why it's not rendering any material on it's simply because you don't have a render appearance material on it. If you are using 2009, just go to "settings" then to "materials" then select the material you are going to use, then click on "Render appearance" tab. Once you are in here, you can replace material on... "Render appearance base on". That is if you don't have any material on it (you would see "gray" material which is a default). And that's it - it should work.

Advice: create a new project, maybe a 3 walls and a floor and change the material as you please and render it using draft or low quality - just to see if the material are showing. GL.

Make the wall like it is.  If it has render on both sides, create a layer on both sides of the wall.  In the wall properties, give the outside layer an Accurender texture that you want, such as Finishes, Exterior, Render.  Set the properties and colours that you want.  Do the same for the intside layer, and give it a different texture, duplicate one and adjust if required.  You should be sorted.

People might be struggling with this post as most users have forgotten how this would be achieved using Accurender.  You are certainly missing out with the Mental ray rendering.

Hey, I figured it out for Revit Architecture 2008: Smile

To change the color of the selected Texture: Select the Texture of the Material (In texture selection box)-> Material menu-> New-> use current material as template-> Base: Main: Change the color-> (Do other required changes i.e. Refraction, Transparency, Highlights)-> Ok-> Pick the “Users” for location and give name-> Ok.

Thanks for the reply though!!!!
