Hi,

We are desperately trying to find a method of importing .3ds objects into revit. I know that they can be convereted to .dwg and .dxf files then imported but this will not work for very complex objects as the file becomes excessively large and the computer just cannot handle it.

Has anyone got any methods that have worked, I even thought that maybe another products plugin might work like archvision (converting .3ds to rpc content then into revit.)

Would be a major help if something could be found, autodesk have really let themselves down in this area. The fbx file format they have is only ONE way and that is out of revit which really really sucks.

One workaround I've found is to import those files in SketchUp so you can save them as .SKP or export them in .dwg format (available only with SU pro), and then you can import those files in Revit......
