I'm currently trying to create a garage door family in Revit Architecture 2009 that has a parameter that if you know the height of the door, the drum size (along with support brackets) change in size and location.

We have the formula, but I am having trouble to get it to work.  The formula is: sqrt (1.273239545 x (Opening Height * 30) + 74529)

We have tried many different ways to put this formula in, but the square root part of the equation is not allowing this to work.

Does anyone have any ideas on how we can get this to work?

You don't say why it doesn't work - is it a units problem?  It may be that you're trying to find the square root of a length, which doesn't make sense.  Create another length parameter that is 1 and use that in the family so that the units are consistent.

Sorry about that.  The error we were getting was Inconsistent Units.  However, after posting this, we tried the formula again and it worked.  So, I may have had a typo originally.

Just for your information, we were trying to work out the diameter of a roller door drum which is rolled up, if we knew what the opening height of the door was (if that makes any sense).
