I downloaded a Kawneer 451 storefront family as that is what I spec more often than not. The mullions have attached line drawing details of the extrusions. So if you cut a section, the drafted detail automaticly is in the veiw, how is this accomplished. I was able to modify this line drawing slightly to get the shims to line up like I wanted. But then I wanted to copy these families and make some other systems that Kawneer didn't seem to have in Revit yet. After much frustration I figured out how to edit each mullion, and I figured out how to edit the line drawings. But right now I have to place these details after the section is cut, how can I embed them into the family so that they show up automaticly when I cut the section. Since the Kawneer download does this I know its possible, but how do you do it? It seems this would be very handy in other family types too. I have a few details I would like to have in all my sections that are pretty standard but it would be unefficient to model everything. It would save loads of time not having to place the "blocks" in each drawing veiw.

You can control it in the visibility settings. The modeled components display in 3d views and can be set to show in section or plan views (or not) in course, medium or fine view settings use the Visibility settings. The same with linework. These settings control how everything displays.

Thanks for the reply Tim123, it wasn't a visabity issue, however I figured the problem out. Since I was copying both the details and mullion familes and editing them, it is necessary to use the purge unused command both before loading detail into the mullion and then the family into the project. For some reason it didn't want the new detail/family to load correctly without the purge. Once I figured out how to attach the detail into the family, its not too hard. Of course it is time consuming, as each mullion condition has a different profile and you need to do quite a few for each type. You have a head, sill, left jam and right jam, a vertical and horizontal. So far I have 3 different types of storefront so I had to do this exersize 18 times. The good thing is, now that its done I have these forever, so when I cut a section the details are already there.
