thanks for your interest guys/gals.. you are both right- you can create the exact same wireframe mass object with revit massing or sketchup- or max or bonzai3d etc. etc. i have been using sketchup AND revit massing for four years.. i have very much prefered sketchup over revit massing- and when revit massing 2010 came along- and with the ribbon and all- that just meant i was nearly stopped from getting my ideas down on paper using that.. and revit has always been a tough nut for me to crack anyway- probably because i'm only now getting serious about turning my geometry into construction documents like revit is really made for.. also with sketchup or bonzai3d you can just click on an image of a door or window.. with revit massing you have to have a real wall (or generic wall) FIRST- and THEN you have to RENDER it to see it.. as for using the building maker function part of revit massing- that's a nice deal.. but the bottom line is this- i just want to get my geometric ideas out there as quick as i can- anyWAY i can- before i lose them.. and i think it's great that the "factory" rebuilt revit from the ground up as a 64 bit program for the future- but the ribbon and the massing i don't totally understand..
