RAC 2010 i have the 1x12 fasia profile-but i want a 1x24 profile.. instance properties has onlyvertical profile offestand horizontal profile offset no parameter to change to 1x24.. i cant find how to edit this profile family or anything..

First uncheck "hide extensions for known file types" in your Folder Options. Now, in your project open: Program Data--> Autodesk--> RAC 2010--> Imperial Library--> Profiles--> Roofs--> M_Fascia-Flat and edit your fascia then Load into Project.....

Alternatively, you can do it in the project by expanding families in the project browser. Duplicate and rename the profile and then go into the properties where you can change the height and thickness,

thanks tim and erland- yes wouldn't i love to go into the properties and change the height and thickness.. only problem is- there ain't not height and thinkness in the properties i know.. see the attachment..

WYS1WYG, open Fascia-Flat and go to Family Types, there you'll see Thickness and Height parameters.....just note that in NAME you have several options.....

that's what i'm trying to say- i cannot do anything with it but click on it for it to load in the project.. please look at my attachments..

Have you tried what I suggested yet? You can just do it in the project - look at the browser on the left.

Profiles are nested families in the fascia family. Go to the project browser > profiles > right click 'fascia flat' > New Type > Rename 1 x 24 in the rename box as provided. Then, Right clcik the new 1 x 24 type > Properties > Change Height and Thickness > OK. Go back to your Fascia family profile drop down list > Bob's your uncle ! You could also open the profile family rfa file itself in the family editor and them make a new 'type' and in this case change the Thickness and Height parameters. Then load that profile back into the project at hand.

OMG- i think i'm gonna drown.. see attachment 1.. notice how it SEEMS like i did exactly infinitely as instructed.. "Go to the project browser > profiles > right click 'fascia flat' > New Type > Rename 1 x 24 in the rename box as provided. Then, Right clcik the new 1 x 24 type > Properties > Change Height and Thickness > OK." see attachment 1.. now i'm on my way back to the ribbon (the beast)- expecting to see "bob".. but guess what? bob's not there.. see attachment 2..

Now duplicate the fascia and load in the new profile that you've created.

Lord thunder'n Jesus man ! The profile is a 'nested' family in the type properties of the fascia family. Go into the fascia 'type' properties dialog box , there is a pull down titled 'Profile'. Bob's having lunch and ready to go home. See attached dialog.

the type properties dialog you posted is showing how to duplicate the profile.. if you look at the same dialog i posted you will see that i have already made a duplicate for the new 1 x 24.. then you say just close that dialog and go make the the new fascia.. but look at my second screenshot and see what i find when i do go to make the new fascia- it's not there.. BTW daryl- if you would sell your RAC 2010 vids for anything less than $250 - i could buy them and not have all these problems.. you NEVER tried to price gouge like that before.. and i know it's not you- it's some fruitcake you let take over your business who is also cluttering up your site with so much flash you can't navigate there anymore..

let's follow these instruction together- exactly as they are written to get a new fascia size.. 1. Go to the project browser > profiles > right click 'fascia flat' 2. New Type > Rename 1 x 24 in the rename box as provided. 3. Then, Right clcik the new 1 x 24 type > Properties > Change Height and Thickness > OK. 4. Go back to your Fascia family profile drop down list > Bob's your uncle ! see all four attachments for proof bob died on the way to the hotel..

You have successfully created a new profile for your fascia. Note that this is a profile, not a fascia. Now, go to the facia drop down and in the properties of the fascia change the profile of the fascia to the new one that you have created, or duplicate the fascia family if you need more than one type. This is mentioned in post 9 and 11 of this thread and there is an image in post 12. This method is used for other things in Revit, such as wall sweeps and reveals, gutters and most things with profiles in the family.
