Is there a way to show an elevation marker (for reference) yet make it non-printable? Thanks.

I don't think that you can make them non-printable. I usually have two views, one for printing which is nice and clean with unwanted section markers hidden and another for working in. In this view I hide the section markers that are on the printing view (if any) and have others that I can easily move around.
