I'm not sure if somebody has done this before. When you model a wall, the wall is just a rectangular entity. But if I want to show the metal studs first, then the drywall, then the paint, how can I do that? Do I really have to physically model the studs, tracks, drywall separately in order to show them? How about the paint? Do I just make it a super thin layer? The reason I want to do this is to show the construction sequence in NavisWorks Timeliner. Thanks in advance.

If you want all those components then you will have to model them.  Except for the studs, you could do each layer as a thin wall.

The studs you could model as a curtain wall without any panels.

I think you should find a better way.....

You can't turn off the separate layers of a wall, so you will have to model them separately.  I have no experience with Navis works, but a curtain wall might work where the studs are mullions and the plasterboard is shown as panels.
