hi folks: trying to create a wall mounted famuily with nested families. everything seems to be going well except that when i place the family in my model it buries into the existing 12 inch wall (see "wall mount 1.jpg". i know that it has something to do with the thickness of the wall in the family editor (see "wall mount 2.jpg". i could just make the wall in the editor the same as the wall in the model, but this family is going to be on different walls. i am sure that this is something simple that i am missing, could somebody point me in the right direction? thanks! pgrimmi

You need to constrain the family to the edge of the wall. If the wall gets wider, the family will move with it.

Did you use the center of the wall in the editor to begin your modeling or did you create a new work plane which would be located on the surface of the wall. You might have to add parameters to establish the surface work plane with respect to the centerline of the wall.

I have the same problem and can't figure out how to align the family to the face of the wall instead of the center. Can anyone please help me.

Use the "TAB" key, check that with your HELP menu.
