Hello everyone. I’m relatively new to Revit (2009), and am stumped with trying to figure out how to get the shutters I’ve created for windows to automatically attach to the walls so they move with the wall and window if I move the wall.

I created the shutter under the generic model family but can’t find anything under “family types” of “element properties” that seem to allow me to get the model to attach and move with my exterior walls. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I’m currently at work looking like an idiot for not knowing how to do this… Thanks.

If you use the Generic wall based family to create the family it will do that, but you can probably align your family to the wall and lock it in place so that it will move with the wall.

if your using Revit it won't be the last time you look like an idiot.  we've all been there.

one method you can try is aligning and locking the shutters to the wall.
