I've seen many examples of adjustable door families here on the site. In these examples you have the option to close a door, open it, or have it at varying degrees. The problem is, these are done in two ways that I see as inaccurate.

Example 1: off/on visibility parameter for door at different positions.

Example 2: 3d door extrusion is set closed but symbolic lines are adjustable by way of a parameter. However, the 3d model will never change. The symbolic lines will change in plan only.

What I am wanting to do is create a real door extrusion (no symbolic or model lines) that will adjust its degree of open-ness based on an angle parameter. I've played with this for hours and can't get it to work. I continuously overconstrain the object or something else occurs. Does anyone have a door that can do this? It is possible? If so, I would really appreciate a tip in the right direction (tutorials are ok but picking apart a model that someone else has created is my best way of learning) Thanks!!

You can do it so that it works in 3d on an angle parameter.  Are you you using a reference line rather than a reference plane?  The geometry needs to be aligned and locked to the reference line - it's sometimes a bit tricky, but definitely doable.

I've attached the rfa file that I'm using. As you can see, the reference line I am using works perfectly. But once you lock the door onto it the angle dimension will no longer work.
