RAC 2010 i got this material map jpeg image with a 3ds model and i can't find how to get it in the material library.. all the properties of it seem to be the same as any other material jpeg image map in the material folder.. but when i paste it in the folder next to the rest of the jpeg images- it does not show up as an image for rendering..

You need to create a new material and assign the jpg to it. It does not need to be in any particular place on your computer - you can browse to any location to load an image.
