please see attached image.

Ok, so here is my problem, I want to remove the area in gray at the roof edge so that I can extend the wall up to the roof bottem.  I tried making two different roofs with different thicknesses, but when I try to join them I get an error message.  I could live with this except for the fact that a line shows up where the two roofs meet.  What I'm basicaly asking is can you have a roof with two different thicknesses?

There are a few ways to approach this.  One is to do what you have done.  If the roofs are in the same plane you can use the join geomertry and the join line will go.  Another method is to create two thinner roofs, one on top of the other, with the one extending over the eaves.  The method that I use is to create a thin roof that extends over the whole area and use other methods fo the structure (trusses and beam systems for example).  This works well because everything is more like it is in reality.

If this is a 3D visual problem, then I would suggest you use a roof edge sweep.

But, if you are looking at the section and how to show it in detail, investigate your edit cut profile options.   HER IS A VERY BI CLUE:  Edit cut profiles do not have to be just subtrative, they can also be additive.

I tried the edit cut profile, and it works, except that it doesn't remove the piece I want from the 3D image.  In section its gone but not in perspective.  Is this what you mean be doing a sweep?  But how do you keep the same roof structure in a sweep?

Edit cut profile is a 2D tool only.

Look in your H E L P searching (NOT INDEX)  for sweep .... many topics that can help you.  Look at roof Facia.
